A Comprehensive Guide to the "Game of Domains" Sales Tool

Whether you are a domain investor, developer, startup founder, or simply curious about domain name valuation, Game of Domains provides a powerful tool for researching real market data.

The Domain Name Sales tool works as a historical sales database, allowing you to explore past domain transactions across major marketplaces. This can help you estimate the value of your own domains, research buying opportunities, and understand market trends.

This guide explains what the tool does, how to read the data it provides, and how to use its search and filtering options effectively.

What Does This Tool Do?

The Domain Name Sales tool by Game of Domains is an aggregator of domain sales data. Instead of browsing individual auction sites or marketplaces separately, you can search records from different platforms such as GoDaddy Auctions, Sedo, Namecheap, and others in one searchable interface.

Understanding the Search Bar

Domain Search

You can enter any domain name or keyword into the search bar to check whether it exists in our sales database.

For example, if you search for BellgateFarm.com, you may see a historical sale record showing that the domain was sold for $1,325 in 2026 at GoDaddy Auctions.

This allows you to quickly check the previous sale history of a specific domain name.

Keyword Search

You can also search by keyword.

For example, if you search for Farm, the tool will display domain sales that include the keyword “Farm” in the domain name.

In this example, there are 2,826 domains containing the keyword “Farm.” You can study the results, sort each column, and use the Load More button to view additional records.

Please note that each use of the Load More button will consume credits.

Multiple Keyword Search

The search bar also supports searches with up to two keywords.

Scenario #1: Searching Two Keywords With a Space

If you search for two keywords separated by a space, the tool will show domains that contain either keyword.

For example, searching for: Hello World may return results such as:

  1. hello.com, world.com (exact match, one keyword)
  2. hellohi.com, worldhi.com (one keyword at start)
  3. hihello.com, hiworld.com (one keyword at end)
  4. helloworld.com, worldhello.com (both keywords glued togather)
  5. helloworldclass.com, worldhelloclass.com    (both keyword at start)
  6. hihelloworldclass.com, hiworldhelloclass.com (both keyword in middle)
  7. hihelloworld.com, hiworldhello.com     (both Keyword at end)
  8. hihelloandworld.com, hiworldandhello.com  (both keywords but separated)

In simple terms, a space between keywords works like an “OR” search. The results may include domains containing either keyword.

Scenario #2: Search Two keywords glued together.

If you want to find domains that contain both keywords together in the exact same order, search them as one word.

For example, searching for: HelloWorld may return results such as:

  1. helloworld.com            (exact match)
  2. helloworldclass.com    (keyword at start)
  3. hihelloworldclass.com (keyword in middle)
  4. hihelloworld.com         (Keyword at end)

This search is useful when you want to find domains containing a specific keyword phrase in the same order.

Scenario #3: Two keyword search with plus sign (+)

If you want results that contain both keywords in any order or position, use a plus sign between them.

For example, searching for: Hello+World may return results such as:

  1. helloworld.com, worldhello.com             (both keywords glued togather)
  2. helloworldclass.com, worldhelloclass.com        (both keyword at start)
  3. hihelloworldclass.com, hiworldhelloclass.com     (both keyword in middle)
  4. hihelloworld.com, hiworldhello.com             (both Keyword at end)
  5. hihelloandworld.com, hiworldandhello.com      (both keywords but separated)

The main difference between a space search and a plus sign search is that a space search may show domains containing either keyword, while a plus sign search only shows domains that contain both keywords.

Understanding the Columns

When you perform a search, the results are displayed in a table. Here is what each column means:

# — Row Number

This is a simple index number that helps you keep track of results in the list.

Domain Name

This is the actual domain name that was sold.

Sold For (USD)

This shows the final sale price of the domain in US dollars. This is one of the most important metrics when researching domain value.

Keywords

This column shows the words or numbers contained within the domain name. They are separated to make the domain easier to read and understand.

Ext — Extension

The extension is the part of the domain that appears after the dot, such as .com, .ai, .io, .net, or other TLDs and ccTLDs.

CC — Character Count

This shows the total number of characters in the domain name before the extension. Character count is important because shorter domains often carry higher value.

For example, DockHub.com has 7 characters before the extension.

Reg — Registrations

This column shows how many extensions the domain term is registered in. We check across 1,000+ TLDs to see how many extensions contain the same term.

This can help you understand how widely registered or popular a domain keyword is.

Date

This shows the date on which the domain sale took place.

Venue / Source

This column shows where the domain was sold, such as an auction platform, marketplace, or another relevant source.

Filters

The tool includes several filters to help you narrow your search results.

Price Range

Use this filter to search for domains within a specific price range. Enter numbers only.

You can use both minimum and maximum price filters together, or use just one of them. For example, you can search only for domains above a certain minimum price or below a certain maximum price.

Domain Length

This filter allows you to search based on the character length of a domain name.

For example, DockHub.com has 7 characters before the extension.

Domain Extension

Use this dropdown filter to select a specific domain extension, such as .com, .org, .net, and others.

Exclude Keywords

Use this filter if you want to remove results containing certain words.

For example, if you do not want domains containing a specific keyword to appear in your results, enter that keyword in the exclude field.

Venue

The venue filter allows you to search by the platform or marketplace where the domain was sold. This may include auction platforms, domain marketplaces, or other sales sources.

Placement

The placement filter helps you search for a keyword based on its position inside the domain name.

You can choose whether the keyword should appear at the start, middle, or end of the domain. You can also choose Exact or Anywhere.

By default, Anywhere is selected.

Numbers

Use this filter to include or exclude domain names that contain numbers.

Hyphens

Use this filter to include or exclude domain names that contain hyphens.
